ABOUT

At the heart of being a painter, is the act of creating.  The desire to create an impression of what I see starts with an overwhelming gratitude of God’s original creation.  In some way, there is a co-creation: Nature in all of its beauty and my interpretation. This experience gives me a great joy of painting along with humility next to God’s majesty.

Today my subject matter centers on my love for the water.  Living on the beach affords me with ample opportunity to experience the allure of the beachscape and surrounding area. Surfing brings this appreciation to an entirely new level; being able to interact directly with Nature. The materials I use, primarily oils, continue to vary depending on the character of expression.  Glass overlays in my more surf related work provide a means of expressing human interaction on a wave.

In my work I hope to help the viewer see the beauty of what is. At the same time the fascination and hope of what I experience is solidified in my mind.
